The British Columbia Provincial Awards Program is administered by the Science Fair Foundation BC and is available to all participants of British Columbia Regional Science Fairs.

Indigenous Student Award
Awarded to the best overall project at the fair of a student of aboriginal ancestry (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit).

Best Project with an Indigenous Theme
Student must demonstrate a keen interest in science and have a project that is of an aboriginal theme. Awarding reference will be given to a student of aboriginal ancestry (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit).

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Award
To be awarded to an outstanding project that shows the practical application of scientific principles to agriculture.

BC Game Developers Innovation Award
To be awarded to the student(s) whose project demonstrates creativity abs innovation in computers science, mathematics, engineering, or astronomy. The award encourages the participation of women, First Nations and others traditionally underrepresented in STEM field.

BC Hydro Power Pioneers Award
To be awarded to a student(s) in Grades 4 to 12 who creates a projects which creatively demonstrates electrical conservation and its environmental, social and economic impacts.

BC Nature Award (Gr 6-8)
To be awarded at each British Columbia Regional Science Fair to the best natural history project done by a student(s) in Grades 6 to 8. This includes studies of any aspect of natural history, conservation of natural habitats, or the conservation of natural species.

BC Nature Award (Gr 9-12)

BC Science Teachers’ Association Award
To be awarded to a student(s) from grades 7 or 8 for an experimental project in any category that has clearly presented an hypothesis and independent, controlled variables

Awarded to an outstanding project with an earth science focus.

Engineering and Geoscientists of BC Award
To be awarded to outstanding engineering projects. Projects eligible for this award include those in the fields of chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, industrial and mechanical engineering as well as systems design.

To be Awarded to projects dealing with a topic of genomic interest.

Plant or Animal Award
Awarded to an outstanding project that demonstrates creative use of science and technology in domestic plant science and animal husbandry.

Michael Crooks Physics Award
To be awarded to a student(s) in Grades 6 to 12 who has done an outstanding physics-related project.

SCWIST Award
(Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology)
To be given to a young woman in the Grades 8 to 10 categories whose project shows the greatest curiosity, ingenuity and innovation in design. The award is intended to encourage the student’s interest in science. A student may not receive this award more than once.

Water Cooperation Award
An outstanding water-related project that also considers cooperative use and social responsibility

Young Innovator Award
To be awarded to a Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 student(s) who has shown initiative and curiosity in the selection of a topic and/or approach to research or design or presentation of the project. The student must have consulted with people in the community or region about the content of the project. The student must show creativity, innovation and enthusiasm in the display of the project.

School with the Most Participation – Competitive Fair
The school with the most participation in the competitive section of the fair.

Nominations and Scholarships

WE Coates Award NOMINATION
To be awarded to an outstanding Gr 7, 8, 9 or 10 project related to land, aquatic or marine environment or rehabilitation. The student will complete an application form and submit it to the provincial competition.

College of the Rockies Young Scientist Award
Through this award, College of the Rockies recognizes the contributions to science made by students in the East Kootenays.
Available to a student in Grades 11 or 12 with a project that is exceptional in terms of scientific design and originality.

Genome BC Scholarship Award NOMINATION
To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student who has developed a science and technology project focused on areas of strategic importance such as human health, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, bioenergy, mining and the environment.
The winner must pursue a science degree and will be required to submit proof of enrolment at a post secondary institution in BC.

BCIC Young Innovator Scholarship
To be awarded to a senior student(s) who has developed a science and technology innovation with the potential to benefit British Columbia. The winner(s) must be selected for the CWSF  and to receive the award, he/she must enroll full-time upon graduation in a science and technology program in a British Columbia post-secondary institution. The awardee is not eligible for other BCIC scholarships.
